ProCoaching – Frequently Asked Questions

Thank you for taking time to read over this FAQ. These common questions and scenarios will set your expectations for the program and ensure you know what’s expected of you, me, and the program itself. This sets you up for success moving forward!

How do I make logging in to the software easy?

There are direct links to the software in your notification emails.  And if you will use a computer most of the time, you can create a bookmark of your login page. You can also save your login information so it’s really quick to get to the program each day.

If you are using a smartphone, there is an app!  For iOS/Android please search the App Store for “PN COACHING” to get the app.  You should be able to save your login details via the app too, which will make the program really easy to use.

What should I expect each day of the program?

While everyone is a little different in terms of how much time they want or need to put in, you should plan to spend roughly 5-15 minutes each day on this program.

Each day you will receive an email asking you about your practice for that day. This is an accountability tool to remind you to practice and improve your skills, because these are the things that help you progress towards your goals. If you prefer you can turn off daily emails in your ProCoach profile and simply log into your account at your own leisure.  The daily reminder however is a good idea in order to help keep you consistent!

Depending on your specific program, you may have resources including lessons, foods, recipes, visuals and other evidence. These curriculum cards are there to support you in your journey and will be related to whatever your current practice is.  Many of the lessons allow even you to LISTEN to them. This is perfect for while you are on the go!

Do I have to do all habits exactly as they are, 100%, no exceptions?

You may find there are some habits that don’t fit for you… this is totally OK!  We modify this program to your unique needs.  We are building a program that works for you as an individual.  Each of our practices are meant to be seen as experiments.  We’re testing the waters and making our decisions based on the outcomes of the tests we’ve done.  Together we will:

  • Try new things.
  • See what works;
  • And what doesn’t!
  • Get real-time feedback from our actions
  • And practice how to do real-life things that will change your health for the better!

You may even find during some of these experiments that your previous thoughts or ideas begin to change!  This is a good thing, because if we don’t change the things we think and do, we’ll keep getting the same results we’ve always had.

What if I get behind in the program?

This can and will happen!  Life gets in the way, or you just generally don’t like to spend that much time with technology. You miss a day or a few days of lessons and feel behind.  Don’t even worry about it! Your success isn’t dependant on doing the lessons.  Your success depends on the consistency you have in doing your daily practices.  These practices should always come first.  You’re still going to need to eat each day even if you miss some lessons, so focus on what you can control.  If you catch yourself with some extra time, go ahead and look back at a few of the missed lessons.  But do it without all the added stress. It’s not mandatory and it won’t prevent you from succeeding.

There are not scores or grades, or rights or wrongs when it comes to this program. We are in it together to find what works best for you as an individual, and to help you succeed.  There is no such thing as getting behind here, because we aren’t focusing on checking things of a list- not even the curriculum cards. We’re focusing on doing and practicing healthy habits in a real world. And the real world is messy!  We’ll roll with it!

What is the Course Archive?

Missed a few days of lessons and practices, and decide you want to catch up? No problem!  You can simply log-on and go into your course archive to view and work with past items.

What is the Owner’s Manual?

On your homepage, once you’ve received your 1st practice/habit, you’ll find your “handling instructions,” based on your responses throughout the entire program.  Everything you capture in your lessons and workshops will be catalogued.  You can visit this page, and print or download it at any time to revisit your goals, motivations, and see how far you’ve come throughout the program.

How consistent do I need to be?

Being consistent is one of the best things you can do to have success in this program.  While 100% compliance isn’t mandatory (and even very little consistency is successful, see the stats here: https://www.precisionnutrition.com/body-transformation-research) many of my most successful clients maintained at least 75% completion of lessons and practices throughout the program.  You don’t have to do a lot each day, but I do ask you to do a little, even if it’s just 1% more than what you were doing before you started the program.

How do we measure progress?

Every 2 weeks you will be asked to update your progress. This can mean bodyweight recording, body measurements, photos, or other success markers that you choose: the way your clothing fits, fitness achievements, confidence, etc.

If you’re not comfortable with taking progress photos, that’s totally fine.  Just upload 3 traditional pictures of yourself, or pictures of your pets, or even your favorite memes. This will allow you to submit your initial entry within the software.

While photos may not be that important to you right now, when you’ve made amazing progress as the program progresses, you might regret not taking them!   And it can be very powerful to see your start & finish transformation. For this reason, I do highly recommend you do take photos at least at the very beginning and at the end, however, this is not mandatory.

All of the data you share is private between the two of us.

Can I pause my program for a while?

No. Our lives and daily nutrition needs are never going to let us pause and take a break, for that reason we won’t pause the program either!  There may come a point life gets a little crazy and you are overwhelmed or too busy and feel you want to take a break or pause the program. It’s OK to feel this!  During those times, we can dial back and do the bare assed minimum (that is still 1% better than what you were doing before you started).  It’s the all or nothing thinking that forces most people to fail: if I can’t do 100% I’ll do nothing at all!  Coach Chrystal doesn’t believe in failure and so we don’t take that route.  We take 1% better every day for 365 days gets you better results than 0% better for all the days you didn’t do 100%.

This is how we ensure your success.  And for it, you will come out of this so much stronger and more committed to your goals because you will know you CAN work through even the most challenging of times that life throws at you.

Why does the program seem a little slow to start?

If you feel the program has a slow start or you should be doing more, know that the pace of the program has a specific purpose!  For the vast majority of people, finding the time to dedicate to their goals is a real challenge – and it’s one we don’t really think about. If we aren’t strong with the basic habits or making time to devote to our goals early on, we cannot be as successful later in the program when the practices become more challenging.

This is a program that’s meant to teach you sustainable, long term habits and we build these from the foundation up. It took you a long time to get where you are, and it’s going to take a while to get you where you want to be.

While it might seem better to take bigger steps, to do more and lots of things all at once when we want to make big changes, this rarely works and more times than not we end up right back where we started

Still feeling you need that extra push?  Let me know and I can help. There is no reason you can’t do more or make any practice a little more challenging, so long as you’re nailing the basics first!

What’s my role as your Coach?

I’m here to be your ally, to support you throughout the program, celebrate your successes, help you work through challenges you face, and empower you to make decisions and actions that will take you towards your goals!

You’ll find I often ask you follow up questions to understand things more clearly and be able to help you better.  The more you participate and interact the better I can see what’s going well for you, where you need help, and how we may come up with solutions. I won’t overload with check-in’s too often as I believe you need time to do, think and practice. I prefer to give you enough freedom to make your own decisions, to assess and reflect, and learn from this experience on your own.  As your coach, I believe you know your body best. My job is to walk alongside you, and maybe point to a few things you weren’t aware of or didn’t catch on your own.  I am not here to demand a super strict eating regimen from you, or to give you a food plan, or a list of good foods and bad. I won’t force you to make changes you’re not ready for.  I’m here as your ally.

What is expected of me, as a client?

The basic expectations of you are as follows:

  • You will login to the program once or twice a day in order to read and participate in your daily lesson, mark off your habit, and note whether or not or how well you felt you succeeded in practicing your daily action.
    • You are not being judge on whether or not you do, or don’t do your lessons. This just gives us data to work with.
    • While the lessons are a very important aspect of the program, reading without doing will not take you as far as you want to go. Your daily actions are what move you towards success. The curriculum is there as support of those actions.
  • If you’re having challenges with something in the program and need some guidance, you are expected to reach out to me! The more interaction you and I have together the better we can work together towards building your success.
